How sad ... the year began badly for our tigers in India

2016-04-16

A tiger met with a tragic end when it fell into a farm well and drowned, apparently while hunting a prey in Ghatkoohka range of Pench National Park buffer zone on Friday night.

Forest patrol squad was shocked to find the big cat's carcass floating in the well, around 90 km from Seoni district headquarters on Saturday. They immediately informed senior officers who rushed to the site. The carcass was fished out with the help of ropes and moved to range office for post-mortem.

"The tiger fell into the well having no parapet wall while chasing some prey. Unable to scale up the slippery walls, it drowned," said a forest officer, wishing anonymity.
Poaching attempt has been ruled out.
