Sumatra Tigers project
Project management is ensured by Loren Freslaud, whom we thank for his involvement in safeguarding the Sumatra tiger .
Ongoing project
The population of Sumatran tigers is alarmingly low.
Is it the most endangered subspecies of tigers and is classified as a "critically endangered species" (CR) by the IUCN.
This decline in its population has been mostly caused by habitat loss and poaching.
This is why Planet Tiger and the Reproduction Center of the Mont Faron Zoo have decided to take action.
As you know, Planet Tiger fights to protect this feline while Mont Faron has been specialized in feline reproduction for over 40 years.
The project was first conceived in September under the name "Conservation Center for the Sumatran Tiger".
Its goal is to salvage this subspecies. A program dedicated to the "Reproduction of the Sumatran Tiger" will be implemented in order to create viable tiger populations, by taking into account the largest genetic diversity possible.
We also hope to be able to reintroduce this species in its natural habitat once the conditions in Indonesia allow it.
